Separation Related Disorders (SRD)
Separation Related Disorders (SRD), or previously known as Separation Anxiety, occurs when a dog is left alone, or separated from a group of people, an individual or another animal. SRD can result in anxiety, fear, frustration, panic or phobia. Dogs are highly social animals and form attachments to maintain social bonds. SRD can look like vocalizing, digging, destructive behaviours such as chewing to escape from barriers and increased activities to get back to the pets attachment figure. These reactions can be distressing for both the pet and their guardians.
